FOO FIGHTERS are back!
Well, I didn’t think I’d be writing that headline so soon. I mean, part of me thought I might never write it at all!
But today, just over a year after the death of their longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters have announced details of their upcoming 11th album.
In the band’s own words, “Following a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances, Foo Fighters return with ‘But Here We Are’, out June 2 on Roswell Records/RCA Records. A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year, But Here We Are is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, ‘But Here We Are’ runs the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between.”
The first single from the album, is called ‘Rescued’. You can watch a lyric video for that by pressing play below.
It’s good, isn’ it? It’s great even. The words put a lump in my throat, and musically it’s the best Foo Fighters track in at least a decade, recalling the band’s best, early work without trying too hard to rip it off. And while there’s no clue yet as to who is drumming on the record, those big, hard hits sure feel like Dave, right?
