I love Nirvana. They are the band that changed my life. This here website is named after a fleeting moment in a Nirvana song, and if you wanted to hack my bank account (don’t bother, there’s nothing in there) you probably wouldn’t have to guess too many song titles before gaining access. I love Nirvana.

However, all of this can make me a bit of a snob when it comes to cover versions of the grunge legends. Some are original and powerful. Some are painful.

It’s a joy to report then, that Softcult’s recent efforts fall firmly into the former category. The Canadian duo recently ran through ‘Been a Son’ and ‘Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle’, and have honoured the original tracks while adding their own distinctly dreamy vibes.

In the band’s own words, “We chose to cover Nirvana and acknowledge what they’ve done for alternative music and how they’ve influenced generations after them.”

I love Softcult.
