EARTH MOVES- ‘The Absurd Man’
It would be a damn shame if this got lost in the annual listmageddon and new year turnover period- ‘The Absurd Man’ is essential listening. In just under a quarter of an hour, Brighton-based four-piece Earth Moves pivot from slow-moving post-rock, past cinematic quiets and furious louds, to a searing instrumental ending. Actually one epic track cut into four, you can hear the joins but instead of ever feeling forced or fragmented, it’s a measured, emotional effort. Everything works, everything flows. The band belie their age and experience (this is their second release) with apparent ease throughout, creating music that could easily be mistaken for the work of their influences while only positioning themselves as peers, never copycats. Don’t miss this.
